Shred for Fred 2018

In 2015 over the Christmas Holidays Fred at the age of 25 was diagnosed with a brain tumour which
turned out to be GBM Brain Cancer. After seeking treatments here and abroad Fred lost his brief but
hard fought fight and passed away in March 2016. Fred’s friends and co-workers organized a
fundraiser event called “Shred For Fred” to support him with funds for treatments and everyday living
expenses.
The Never Alone Foundation an amazing organization was extremely supportive of Fred and his family
from day one. During his illness they provided support with some of the day to day things patients and
families don’t think of during these times. Now Fred’s Family and Friends are wanting to give back to
this wonderful organization,
Fred was a graduate of Red River Collage’s Green Space Management program, an avid snowboarder
and active member of the community. He was a young business man with owner ship in a local
company Sustainable Organic Solutions. A company which focuses on Organic land care by providing
soil amendments and organic alternatives to pesticide and herbicide use.
On February 17, 2018 the Annual “Shred for Fred” will take place at Springhill Winter Park located just
outside Winnipeg on Hwy 59 North. The day is to include informal ski and snowboard feature jam
prizes and giveaways. The evening event ticket includes ski and snowboard rentals, lift passes. There
will be a silent auction and Manitoba social activities which will end with an Archangel Fireworks
display.
